Artist Background
Richard Batty is a young London artists, whose vibrant, culourful art reflects the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic fabric of life in his immediate surroundings. His artistic creations of paintings, photography and sculpture form a mesh of styles, subjects and contradictions and are an attempt to make sense of the chaos and harmony influencing his daily life. Richard projects a great sense of humour onto the canvas in an attempt 'to unite people of all ages and intellects'.
Influenced by 'Fantastic Art' and steeped in the philosophy of Hieronymus Bosch, whose works 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' or the macabre devils, freaks and monsters form the essence of Richard Batty's 'Urban Architecture' the result of a lengthy research project on Social Geography, exploring the relationship between architecture, space, drugs and sex.
